Our Science

Polyamines—such as putrescine, spermidine, and spermine—are small organic molecules essential for normal cell growth. In healthy cells, their levels are tightly regulated. However, cancer cells require elevated polyamine levels to sustain rapid growth, leading to increased concentrations in body fluids. Their presence serves as a clear biomarker for cancer detection.

  • Utilizes high-resolution Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) to identify cancer at its earliest stages within 60 seconds.
  • Non Invasive Test: Saliva/urine and patient-friendly
  • Predictive capabilities for assessing cancer risk and progression.
  • Relies on scientifically validated biomarkers integral to tumorigenesis.

Southampton UK, POC Case Study

The Onco-Science device demonstrated early- stage cancer detection during this POC with 100% accuracy. This device can identify specific cancers like lung, colon, renal, and gastric through unique polyamine markers — highlighting its potential for earlier and less invasive treatments.

Purpose: Saliva samples collected in 2016 and stored were tested to assess whether the Onco-Science device can detect them—potentially unlocking additional samples for clinical study comparison with NHS Digital diagnoses.
